Yes. Over time, dark or grey marks can become visible on matte KAYA glazes from knives and other metal cutlery.

These marks are metal abrasion from the cutlery on the matte glaze surface. They should not be confused with the natural handcrafted variation of a new KAYA piece.

Choosing a matte porcelain surface means choosing its distinctive tactile quality – but it's worth knowing that signs of use can be more visible on it than on high-gloss surfaces.

Depending on the type, cutlery or metal abrasion on a matte KAYA glaze can be carefully reduced or removed with a suitable cleaning paste.

For cleaning, we recommend our specially developed care paste, available in our online shop. We have also had very good experience with Mister Minit Stainless Steel.

As with other fine porcelain, KAYA's rim can be damaged by knocks against hard objects or careless stacking.

The especially fine rim is a deliberate design feature: it gives KAYA its light silhouette and the delicate feel when drinking and eating. This delicacy calls for handling to match.

Especially when stacking and when loading or unloading the dishwasher, take care that the rims don't knock against each other.

As things currently stand, KAYA is dishwasher safe. Due to the handcrafted shapes and especially fine rims, we recommend loading individual pieces with enough space between them.

Yes, KAYA porcelain is microwave safe.

KAYA plates and bowls can be stacked. Place the pieces on top of each other carefully, though, and avoid tall, unstable or strained stacks.

Because of the hand-thrown shapes, not all pieces sit perfectly identically on top of each other. Take particular care not to knock or drag the fine rims against each other when loading and unloading.

Mindful handling helps the delicate KAYA shapes stay beautiful for a long time.

In principle, available KAYA shapes and colours can be added to later. Because KAYA is made in handcrafted production batches, colour, glaze and shape can vary slightly between different batches.

MAOMI also continues to develop the range; individual shapes or colours may be discontinued. Permanent availability of every variant therefore cannot be guaranteed.

So if you add to your collection later, you'll still get KAYA – but possibly with exactly those subtle differences that define handcrafted porcelain.
