Where does the shape of HOOKS come from?
The shape of HOOKS comes from the hand of Dr Emmanuel Boos, the artist who is also behind our ELEPHANT FEET stoneware. A cast was taken from his hand-shaped model, which serves as the basis for production. In colour and form, HOOKS are reminiscent of pebbles finely polished by water – a deliberate nod to nature.
Is HOOKS handmade?
The basic shape is created by hand – the artist models the original, from which a cast is taken. On this basis, HOOKS are then cast in porcelain and glazed at our partner manufactory in Sri Lanka. It's a collaboration from workshop to workshop: from the artist's creative hand to the experienced hands of the local makers.
Where is HOOKS made?
HOOKS is made in a family-run manufactory in Sri Lanka that places great value on social fairness, equality, inclusion and ecological efficiency.
Has HOOKS won any awards?
Yes, several times over in 2023: with the German Design Award, the Houzee Award in Platinum, and the SIT Furniture Design Award.
Can HOOKS also be used in damp rooms and outdoors?
The thread and included screws of HOOKS are made of stainless steel. HOOKS can be mounted both indoors and outdoors, and are also suitable for damp environments such as bathrooms or covered terraces.
Are HOOKS waterproof?
Yes. Thanks to the rust-proof stainless steel thread, the included rust-proof stainless steel screws and the high firing temperature, HOOKS are waterproof and suitable for any damp environment.
How much weight can HOOKS hold?
HOOKS provide secure support for jackets, bags and accessories – including heavy coats or wet towels. Due to the handcrafted production and the resulting variations, we cannot give an exact weight limit. Important: HOOKS must never be used as climbing holds.
What's included, and how are HOOKS mounted?
Every HOOKS set is delivered including rust-proof stainless steel screws, matched to the stainless steel thread of the wall installation for secure fixing.
