The twisted virgin wool, which we process in our products SELMA, IVA and NOGGI, comes from a small village in Transylvania, central Romania. The approximately 500 villagers live from agriculture and still run many of their old farms and businesses, despite the economically problematic situation.

A self-managed initiative in the village ensures that about 80 women process the wool of the milk sheep in a spinning mill. This secures additional income for the families when agriculture rests during the winter months. We are in contact with this self-help project and thus organize the production of the MAOMI products. Together with the locally responsible people elected by the community, we coordinate the quality standards and ensure fair payment for the women. An association affiliated with the initiative also works to improve the living conditions of the village community by organizing travel to doctors or school help for families.
